On April 25th, MWCC sponsored a highly successful seminar on PCBs.  The agenda for the seminar is indicated below and copies of the presentations may be downloaded by clicking on the appropriate links.

Presenters:

Kurt Limesand, P.G., is an Environmental Scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – Region 7 Office in Lenexa, Kansas. Kurt is the TSCA PCB contact for activities in Kansas and Nebraska, and is also a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Project Officer for contaminated hazardous waste sites throughout Region 7. Kurt came to the EPA 5 years ago after many years as a remediation project and program manager at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Kurt also worked for Ecology and Environment, Inc. and the Kansas Geological Survey. Kurt has a BS in geology from the University of Kansas and never got out of Lawrence. He continues to throw tuition at KU for his many ungrateful children.

Mark Pennell is founder and President of RCS, Inc., a PCB Management consulting firm based in Springfield, Missouri. RCS specializes in PCB regulatory compliance and risk management and currently provides diagnostic and educational services for approximately 400 electric utility and commercial/industrial clients throughout the United States.RCS was recently recognized and listed by the EPA as one of only two firms in the U.S. that met the Agency’s standards for educational programs for EPA regional personnel. Mark interacts directly with all ten EPA regional offices as well as EPA Headquarters in Washington, and has 27 years of experience in this discipline.

Marc Matthews is an Environmental Engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - Region 7 Office in Lenexa Kansas.  He is currently the Regional Enforcement Coordinator for the Polychlorinated Biphenyl Program and Compliance Officer in the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Program.  He has worked for the EPA for 24 years as an inspector in the PCB, EPCRA, and TSCA New Chemicals programs; as the PCB Approval and Clean Up Coordinator; as the Pollution Prevention Team Leader; and as the Green Facilities Project Manager. Mr. Matthews graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and the University of Kansas with a Masters of Business Administration in Human Resource Management.

Mike Dandurand, P.E., is an Environmental Engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - Region 7 Office in Lenexa Kansas.  He is currently the Regional Coordinator for the Polychlorinated Biphenyl Program.  He worked for the State of Missouri’s Hazardous Waste Program as a project manager for the RCRA corrective action and permitting section from 2007-2011.  Mr. Dandurand graduated from the University of Missouri – Rolla with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

John (Jack) R. Skelley, CHMM, is the Corporate Environmental Affairs Manager for Gerdau, based in Wilton, Iowa. He has a B.S. in Zoology and B.S. in Environmental Biology from Eastern Illinois University, as well as an M.S. Biology/Toxicology emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
