MWCC FIRST SEMINAR ON SOLID WASTE ISSUES

In this time of coronavirus and working at home, MWCC is pleased to offer an opportunity for you to relax over lunch with free webinars this fall. So, grab your lunch and coffee, and join us! This webinar discusses two solid waste issues:

OPERATIONAL CHANGES RESULTING FROM COVID-19 (30 minutes)

Shortly after the “Stay-At-Home” orders were implemented by many states this past spring, Burns & McDonnell hosted a virtual round table where local governmental solid waste managers shared their perspective on the initial impacts of COVID-19 on their day-to-day operations. Building off this well-received conversation, we virtually interviewed a select set of local solid waste program managers, including a handful of MWCC members, to identify COVID-19 driven program operational changes that are likely to have long term beneficial impacts on individual community programs such as:

  • Updating contingency operations plans to increase preparedness
  • Automating scale house services to increase efficiencies
  • Cross training staff to build team adaptability and resiliency
  • Gaining valuable insight on alternative solid waste and recycling collection practices

Based on the information gathered from these select interviews, we will present a summary as part of a MWCC short webinar.

Presenter:  Robert Craggs, Burns & McDonnell
